Balayage is the French word for “to sweep” or “to paint”. Using this technique, the colorist colors your hair horizontally, coating the front and back of the hair strands. The effect creates a natural, soft, sun-kissed hair color.
Balayage is different from ombre. While ombre highlights are a dramatic, bold shift between dark and light, balayage is more sudden and natural appearing.
Balayage highlights are actually not new.
